Principal's Message

Dear Yelm Middle School,

I want to extend my warmest welcome to incoming students and a welcome back to our returning students for the 2024-25 school year. As the principal of YMS, I am thrilled to embark on this journey with you. Our goal here is to create an environment where the entire school community feels safe and that they belong here.

Our primary focus will always be to ensure student safety while learning at high levels. The first couple weeks of school will be focused on teaching expectations for student behavior with the goal of physical and mental safety, along with minimal disruptions to learning. This will include supporting our 6th graders as they transition into middle school.

This year, we anticipate challenges and changes, but our commitment to your child’s success remains unwavering. We will continue to provide the support and resources necessary for each student to thrive and become their best selves.

To achieve this, we kindly ask for your partnership. One impactful way to support our school community is by ensuring that students are fully engaged during school hours. Let’s minimize distractions by encouraging them to stow away their phones and other devices while in class. By doing so, students will be able to become fully immersed in the Middle School experience. Middle school is hard enough without the additional challenges and distractions of cell phones and social media.
